More photos from Brookgreen Gardens. We visited the Gardens on Thursday and Friday, both were beautiful days. I forgot my small camera I use for close up shots Friday and tried taking some close ups with the video camera but they didn't turn out too well. I did get another photo of the lotus flower, I don't think they last very long as you can see by the update photo from Friday.
We saw a lot of those huge grasshoppers and a lot of them were mating. Must be that time of year for them. This is the first time we've ever seen them, I hope with all this mating they aren't over populated next year. They don't seem to be harming the bushes or plants but they must eat the leaves, they sure are big.
Here are more photos of the beauty to be found at Brookgreen.
This is how the Lotus Flower looked Friday, starting to droop a little.

These extremely huge grasshoppers are mating all over the place.

Something I've never seen before, white beauty berries.

The Welcome Center, a good place to start the tour.

Can you believe the height of the tall plant in the clay pot? I have no idea what it is but it is interesting, as it grows the green leaves and flowers bloom from the bottom up, the blooms on the bottom die so it appears to bloom in sections working it's way to the top. I don't know if it gets taller than this either. Very interesting. From the bottom leaves it appears to be some sort of palm.

The gardens are filled with these giant leafy plants in all different colors.

Some have unusual blooms like these cattails.

There are moss roses all in bloom throughout also.

I have not idea what this is but again, you have huge leaves and then the orange and yellow bloom.

These get really tall also, most were over four feet. Canna Lilies maybe?

Lots of variety in the succulent and cactus family.

More huge leafy plants. DH was kind enough to use his hand as a rule to show you just how big these leaves are.

Purple Beauty Berries.

There were plenty of small flowers too.

This is a flowering tree, it's huge and beautiful. The photo doesn't do it justice.

Pretty even now that the petals have all died and fallen off.

The hibiscus are still blooming, lovely as ever.

I found this leafy plant very pretty with the spots.
So that's all for now. I have about 18 more photos to share until our next visit. I'll do the third photo essay maybe tomorrow. It takes so long to upload a large amount of photos and often the whole post gets lost in cyber space, you know, and you have to start over.
Hope you enjoyed the tour.
